DIY: How To Make Your Own BB Cream

$
0
0

There are a lot of good reasons to hop on the BB cream bandwagon. Who doesn’t like sheer coverage with a little extra SPF and moisturizing goodness? But if it’s just moisturizer, SPF and a little tint, then why can’t we make it ourselves? Say it with us: YES WE CAN!

Things you’ll need:

  • Moisturizer with SPF
  • Primer (for oily skin)
  • Liquid foundation/ concealer
  • Liquid illuminator (optional)

Before you give it a try, here are some things to remember:

For more tint, add more foundation. Don’t skimp on the moisturizer though because you still want all the hydration you’d get from a real BB cream.

Don’t be afraid to throw in a drop of your favorite serum or change up the formulation to get a personalized product. Just be sure to jot down your recipe so you’ll remember when it’s time to make your next batch.

Let’s Begin:

1. Squeeze out a nickel-size amount of SPF-rich moisturizer onto your mixing surface. An SPF-rich moisurizer will give you both hydration and sun protection throughout the day.

2. For a glowing radiance, add 1/2 teaspoon of a liquid illuminator to the moisturizer.  You may want to experiment with the one that works best with your skin tone. Adding an illuminator that is lighter than your skin tone can end up with a glittering/shimmery look that will have a white tint in photos.

3. Add roughly 1/4 teaspoon of liquid foundation/concealer to your mixture. This will give you coverage, but since it’s cut with moisturizer and illuminator, it will be just the right amount for a smooth, light finish.

4. Mix all three products together thoroughly and apply to your face with your fingers or a brush. Set with a translucent powder to look BB-fresh all day!
A couple of other things to keep in mind:

  • If you have skin on the oily side, try subbing in a primer into your mixture.
  • For a bit more color, try a bronze liquid illuminator instead of one that perfectly matches your skin tone.
  • You can mix your self-tanner right into your BB cream too!

Interview With Biodun Omolayo

Artist and art gallery owner, Biodun Omolayo has passed through diverse phases of art, from training people to practising. This makes his input into the fledging Nigerian visual art scene cuts across the board. In this interview, Omolayo shared his experience and thoughts on several aspects of art, including the challenges of being an artist who is also in the business of art gallery.

Tell us a bit about your background?

My name is Biodun Omolayo. I was born 51 years ago in Owo, Ondo State. I had my elementary and secondary education in Owo as well. I went to St. Andrews primary school and then Imade College, Owo and after that I proceeded to Ibadan Polytechnic where I had my A levels and I moved to University of Ilorin where I studied Performing Arts and I majored in Technical Theatre. After service, I secured a job with a bank, then i had to switch from theatre to banking. I did that for about 10 years after which i had to leave to follow my passion. Since then I’ve been running galleries and I’ve been doing programmes for children because I am so concerned about visual education for children.

How was the transition from the banking industry to the art industry like for you?

It was smooth because it was a deliberate thing. Before I resigned from the bank, I started going to school for a part time programme in arts. It was challenging however because of the fact that i had to go back to school since i did not study art originally. It was even tougher because i had to leave a salary earning job to set up my own business and in turn start paying other people and manage other things. But I am enjoying it anyway because this is where my passion is.

Can you remember the first artwork you ever sold?

I think that was when i was in the university in 1983. I painted a dancer and my lecturer’s husband who happened to be an American purchased the painting. Infact, my first earning was in foreign currency.

Describe your art in 3 words

Colourful, Pleasing and Soothing.

What is the most indispensable item in your studio?

I don’t think there’s anything here i cannot dispense with. The only thing i would not joke with is my own brain. Anything here can be replaced.

Do you have a favourite spot, a place where you get inspiration from?

I love vegetation and countryside where you have a lot of green, flowing stream and animals. That is why most of the time you see a lot of green in my work.

What is abstract about Abstract art?

Before you talk about abstraction, you must have a plan. It’s like music, until it is organised then it is just noise. In the same manner, in art what is abstract is that a lot of things are hidden within the work. Then you need to look deeply to understand it whether in terms of colour or characters there in. The art let’s you interpret it your own way.

Do you subscribe to the thought that everybody is an artist and every profession is an art form itself?

Yes. I usually tell people “You’re an artist but you’re not aware so you’re dormant and somebody needs to wake you up.” For instance, applying makeup is an art, writing is an art, your footprint is an art etc. Arranging all of these with the help of an expert can bring out the best in you. Professions too can be considered as an art form; architecture, engineering, writing, fashion designing, plastic surgery. So art is everywhere.

In your opinion, what is the hardest step in creating a master piece?

It’s the conception. Once you can conceive it, you’ll bring it to life. The conception is the foundation; it is then you consider what message you want to pass across, how to, with what and in what form.

What would you describe as creativity?

For me it is problem solving. It is not limited to painting, sculpting or writing. If you are creative, you are proffering solutions to a problem using resources at your disposal. There’s this impression that only artists are creative because of visual arts but I believe that people who use their work to solve problems in the society are creative, whether you’re a doctor, engineer, singer etc.

What role does the artist play in the society?

The artist documents, captures events visually, beautifies. The artist is a therapist because the on lookers can be emotionally lifted by looking at an artist’s work; the artist is also an employer.

What kind of messages do you pass across in your art?

Most times i pass a message of hope, a message that lifts, motivates, encourage and energizes. There are ugly situations out there but then as an artist, rather than draw peoples attentions to the bad events again, i do something that can take the pain away.

How do you ensure you stay relevant in the industry?

By passing the knowledge i have acquired to other people. This is evident in the Young @ Art program i run for children. When one acquires knowledge and refuses to give out, they become like a stagnant pond that is stale and smelling; but if you’re like a flowing stream that is fresh and alive, then you’ll forever be relevant.

What are the challenges of the art industry in Nigeria?

One of the challenges is appreciation. The appreciation is low hence there’s no attention given to the art industry. However it is getting better as more individuals are getting involved. Government patronage is almost nil and all over the world, the government is the biggest spender and when the government decides to be your customer or client, you know what you’re going to get from that. It is only when the economy is doing very well before this industry will benefit because most people would rather attend to their basic needs before thinking of buying luxury (as art is luxurious in most cases).

What is your definition of the African dream?

I see myself as a human being not just as an African. I’m a global person because in whatever I’m doing, i don’t want to be relevant only in Africa but all over the world. I’m not losing my identity as an African but i’m not limited to this environment because I want to impact lives everywhere. So talking about the dream, the dream is to be useful to other people with my own gift.

Besides art, what else are you passionate about?

I’m passionate about children, i love kids a lot. I also love the environment; i love to see a neat environment not a damaged one. That is why i adore the ex governor of Lagos State for implementing the planting of flowers all around the state. Most people didn’t understand that besides beautification, the flowers helped take out the pungent smell of faeces laid around. I’m also passionate about education. Education is light which allows you see beyond where you are presently and allows you appreciate other people as well. Education gives you the ability to solve problems which in turn makes you happy because you can solve these problems.

Five things you can’t do without

Word of God (everything is there for me), relationship with people, perfume and sweet smelling flowers, paint, paper and pen.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given? By whom?

The best piece of advice given to me is by my paternal grandmother. She used to say in her local dialect that “Mind your business.” When you’re minding your business, there’s a whole lot to do and you won’t have time for gossips and all. It’s about focusing on you first by putting things right within yourself before paying attention to anything else.

How do you unwind after a hard day’s job?

I read and I listen to music

What kind of music do you listen to?

I love classical music and jazz a lot. I love dancehall as well but while working i listen to jazz or classical music.

What is your philosophy of life?

Live and let live. See what you can do for other people at all times and don’t create more problem for people while trying to solve their problems.

5 Exciting Reasons to Travel to Northern Nigeria

Northern Nigeria

Nigeria’s northern region is a maligned part of the country. Made up of 3 geopolitical zones, the north have been saddled with numerous diatribes some of which are untrue. Considering the security situation, many Nigerians have made it a point of duty not to visit making it a pariah territory.

This skepticism can be observed in the mass redeployment of corps members posted there by the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) to other states of the federation perceived as ‘safe’.

In spite of the negativity, this region is blessed with amazing characteristics that have equipped it with the capacity to dominate Nigeria’s political and economic scene.Jovago.com, Africa’s No 1 hotel booking portal presents 5 interesting reasons which will encourage you to travel north of the country.

Northern Nigeria 2

Hospitable

Inhabited by Fulani, Hausa, Nupe and other ethnic tribes, the average Northerner is very hospitable.

In fact, they are blessed with so much warmth that leave visitors in awe. They will offer you free rides, housing and give correct prices for a merchandise. The welcome soothes you with a feeling of being at home away from home!

Exotic tourist attractions

The tallest mountain seats in Taraba state, Chappal Waddi; Jos is a wonderful destination with cool weather; Kogi holds Nigeria’s colonial relics; Bauchi has the Yankari National park and there are many other destinations spread across the 19 states that make up the region. You can savour Nigeria’s beauty, culture and wealth here.

Food basket of the nation

Benue is tagged the food basket of the nation as the best of farm products come from there. The farmland is very fertile and large expanse of arable soil are cultivated with cash and food crops. The harvest made feeds the nation as crops are transported to Lagos and other parts of the country.

A clear example is found in the past where groundnut and rice pyramids in Kanoreigned as the nation’s major source of export income. This lends credence to the solid agricultural background of Northern Nigeria.

northern nigeria3

Affordable

The cost of living in the North is inexpensive. Housing, food, transport and other life necessities are cheap – a huge advantage this territory has over other Nigerian regions.

Education

Many prospective Nigerian students are trooping to the North for university education. They are taking advantage of the central government’s policy on lowering the cut-off mark for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in less educationally developed states, giving more students access to secure admission in Northern Universities.\

20 Time Management Hacks I Wish I’d Known Before My 20s

$
0
0

You can get started today! Choose one hack a day and you will make it through the list in less than a month.

1. Use a calendar app or calendar notebook every day

Keeping all of your appointments in your head is ineffective. That’s why successful people use calendar tools.

For example, I suggest using Google Calendar. It is free and you can set it up to send you email reminders for important activities. Receiving a reminder email about a trip a few days in advance is very useful.

2. Use a task management tool

Yes, keeping a to-do list is vital in successfully managing your time. At first, you may just use scraps of paper (I did that once as well).

It is much more effective to use a dedicated task management tool though. You could use a well made paper notebook such as a Moleskine, or even a digital tool (e.g. Remember the Milk, Microsoft Outlook or Nozbe).

3. Respect your need for sleep by getting 7 to 9 hours of sleep each day

Cutting out sleep to have more fun or get more work done is a short sighted strategy. While you can pull off this strategy in your 20s to a degree, it is a destructive habit to form.

Being tired all day means that you will be able to make effective use of your time, no matter how organized you are. So make it a habit of getting those legitimate seven to eight hours each night.

4. Do a weekly review of the past 7 days

Learning how to do a weekly review is one of the best time management habits for you to develop. The Weekly Review is a concept created by David Allen, author of the classic productivity book Getting Things Done.

To get started with a weekly review, go through the following steps:

– First, review your calendar for the past week and the current week – look for loose ends, meetings and other matters that need further attention.

– Second, review your email inbox (personal and company email accounts) and achieve inbox zero.

– Third, review your goals for the year and make plans to work on them in the coming week.

This practice will help you to better plan your schedule and avoid nasty surprises.

5. Plan to achieve four hours of real work per day

Did you know that project managers often assume people will be less than 100% productive per day? It’s true! You may have a standard eight hour work day but the reality is that only half of that day is likely to be highly productive.

The rest of the day will be taken up with meetings, responding to email, browsing the Internet and related activities.

Tip: Schedule your most important, high value tasks in the morning, before you get tired.

6. Focus on a single task at a time (i.e. no multitasking!)

Multitasking is a wasteful way to work. Instead, you will achieve more if you choose one activity at a time. For example, allocate one hour in the morning to work on a proposal for a client, then give yourself a short break.

7. Separate strategic and “brain dead” tasks

High value strategic tasks are what companies and clients pay for – coming up with new product ideas, ways to reduce cost and other improvements. However, it is difficult to deliver creative insights all day long.

When the last hour of the day arrives and you’re tired, work through “brain dead” tasks like installing security updates or tossing out old papers.

8. Accomplish large projects by breaking them down into smaller tasks

The ability to accomplish large projects is one of the most important time management hacks. For example, if you are assigned with organizing a corporate conference in six months, the effort may feel impossible.

Get started by writing a plan and asking for advice from people who have accomplished similar projects.

9. Set a maximum of three priority tasks per day

At the beginning of the day, it is easy to come up with a to-do list with dozens of items. Unfortunately, unplanned phone calls, requests from the boss and others quickly overturn the best plans.

Instead, simply choose three important tasks per day.

Resource: Want to build this activity into a habit? Use the Five Minute Journal to focus on what matters in your life.

10. Learn to delegate tasks effectively at work

Effective managers (and successful professionals) routinely delegate tasks so they can focus on their work better. The basic steps of effective delegation: describe the task and deadline, explain it to the person who will perform the task and ask to be kept informed.

11. Delegate household tasks as soon as you can afford it

During your 20s, you will have difficult years as you start your career. Once you have additional resources, look for domestic activities you can delegate.

For example, you may want to use a dry cleaning service to keep your professional clothes in good condition.

12. Review the past to become better, not assign blame

Repeating past mistakes is one of the worst ways to misuse your limited time. That’s why it makes sense to have review your projects, work deliverables and habits regularly.

For example, if your smart phone always runs out of power during the work day, buy a charging cable for the office. Putting that improvement in action will save you time and frustration in the future.

13. Set deadlines for every task

Giving deadlines to yourself is one of the best ways to stay organized. A task without a deadline is likely to frustrate you after all.

If your boss gives you a deadline for Friday, you may want to get the work done on Thursday instead so that you have time to review it.

14. Schedule travel time on your calendar

Travel time is a reality that we need to learn to manage. For example, you may realize that it takes you 10 minutes to travel from your main office building to a nearby client building.

That means you cannot afford to schedule back-to-back meetings and still be on time.

Tip: Plan for travel time using a worst case scenario (e.g. heavy traffic) – that way, you are more likely to arrive early.

15. Put a proven productivity system like ‘Getting Things Done’ into action

You don’t have to come up with every aspect of time management all on your own. Instead, invest the time to read a great time management book like Getting Things Done by David Allen and put the ideas into action.

Tip: Set time aside every month to gain new knowledge and become more effective by reading good books: 11 Books To Make You Lead A Much More Productive Life.

16. Put personal rest and relaxation on your calendar

If you are driven to achieve results, it is easy to neglect yourself and work all the time. That’s why it you should always have time on your schedule for enjoyable activities.

For example, you may set aside Saturday afternoons to read a good book at home or play sports with friends.

17. Take breaks during the work day

Sitting in a chair at your desk all day is bad for your health according toPopular Science. To maintain your health and focus – key inputs for good time management – take breaks of 5-10 minutes every hour to walk around.

Simply getting a glass of water and stretching for a few minutes will do wonders for your body.

Resource: 29 Exercises You Can Do At (Or Near) Your Desk.

18. Learn to say no effectively

Saying yes to new responsibilities is a great way to grow your career when you first get started. Yet, this is a habit that you can take too far. If you are a people pleaser and struggle with saying no, then read The Power of No: Because One Little Word Can Bring Health, Abundance, and Happiness by James Altucher and Claudia Azula Altucher.

19. Use your values to make decisions about your time

Understanding yourself is essential to managing your time. For example, if your top value is family then you will have to manage your work requirements according to that value.

Discovering your values is challenging if you have never given thought to this area before.

20. Admit mistakes quickly and move on

Covering up mistakes wastes everyone’s time including your own. You can achieve much more in life if you admit your mistakes, solve the problem and move on.

Most managers are willing to forgive mistakes, especially if you are honest and work hard at preventing the mistake from occuring again.

JOSE MOURINHO’S GREATEST XI

$

0

Petr Cech

We start between the sticks, with one of the best ‘keepers to have ever graced the Premier League. Although now in North London with the Gunners, Petr Cech is a Chelsea icon and was Jose’s go-to man for years. The Czech international kept 220 clean sheets for the Blues, an all-time club record.

Javier Zanetti

Mr. Inter Milan. The Argentine first laced up his boots at the San Siro in 1995, and he’s only just hung them up. The Buenos Aires native is the epitome of the ‘one-club man’ and is such a legend in Milan that his #4 jersey has been retired by the club. Zanetti was the man who lifted Mourinho’s second Champions League trophy to date.

Sergio Ramos

Ramos is only 29 years old, yet he seems to have been around for an eternity. Already, the man has won everything. Real Madrid’s skipper is a dominant force in European football and his trophy cabinet must be the size of a small house!

John Terry

John Terry is Chelsea Football Club. The English centre-back has been one of the Premier League’s best for as long as many can remember. In Jose’s top XI, he’s the perfect counterweight to Ramos.

Ashley Cole

England has produced a real shortage of world-class talent in recent years, but Ashley Cole is a very notable exception. When he was lured over to Stamford Bridge, Mourinho began to craft Ashley Cole into a truly top-class left back. He did a great job, too!

Claude Makelele

Holding midfield now, and one of the best tacklers the world has ever seen. Makelele was pivotal in Chelsea’s Premier League-winning 2004-05 season and the Frenchman revolutionised the defensive midfield role, under the watchful eye of Mourinho.

Frank Lampard

Jose Mourinho has managed a whole host of top-quality midfielders in his time, but it’s impossible to leave out Chelsea’s all-time leading goalscorer. Frank Lampard scored 211 goals for the Blues, from midfield. Just let that sink in. Incredible.

Wesley Sneijder

The Dutchman is one of the better attacking midfielders of his generation. What’s more, he was instrumental in Inter’s Champions League win in 2010, which remains arguably Mourinho’s greatest footballing achievement.

Arjen Robben

Bayern’s tricky Dutch winger has been tormenting German defences for the past six years, but it ought to be remembered that Robben first shot to prominence way back in 2004, in the blue of Chelsea. Jose took a promising wing-man from PSV Eindhoven and turned him into a superstar.

Cristiano Ronaldo

You’re not shocked, are you? Jose Mourinho linked up with his fellow countryman in Madrid and, to this day, Ronaldo is the best player he has ever worked with. But that’s not a big statement, it can be said for any of Ronaldo’s managers!

Didier Drogba

When Chelsea signed Drogba from Marseille in 2004, the club simply hoped that they had signed a quality striker that could contribute goals. What they actually did was sign an Ivorian who would become a club legend. In the Premier League era, Drogba is the best of the best at Stamford Bridge and the best striker Mourinho has ever managed.

So What do you think? Are these Mou’s best player so far? Let us know in the comments below.

Exclusive or What?

$

Read this: Blac Chyna’s man, Future, is “single” and “hooking up with other chicks”…and “I’m okay with it”, she says.
What??? Hell no. Hell to the hell no. Even with society’s implied permission for men to cheat and women to remain faithful, men still understood that once married or courting a woman with intention of marriage, all thoughts of involvement with another is immediately banished, explaining why the men do it secretly and why it’s called ‘cheating’. But cheating is legal/allowed now under the umbrella called ‘non-exclusive’ or ‘open’ relationships which, in layman terms, means being together as a couple and still dating being sexually involved with other people.
My question here is why not just remain single till you find the one person that you can actually connect to? The main idea of being in a relationship is to get familiar and comfortable with a person that you share your very essence with that person in the relationship leading up to marriage. It is kinda understandable when people say that marriage is an abused institution; that people can love and be dedicated to each other without tying themselves down with a piece of paper (marriage certificate). But this non-exclusivity idea, I don’t get. It has ‘standardized’ infidelity with men and made women feel the need to explore. Women now feel the need to fulfill their ideas of the perfect man in and with other men. It is no longer new to see couples ‘hooking up’ with other people since they are not exclusive.
There are so many other issues wrong with this phenomenon; STDs, the lack of permanency, being the option among many options, just too many things. There is really no sane purpose behind the idea of non-exclusivity. Thankfully, this is not a majorly African thing and hopefully will never be. I mean, it’s bad enough that the image of marriage is tarnished but relationships too? So where’s the hope for the future generation in terms of serious committed long-term relationships?
Honestly o, we need to check this. For me personally, honey, we’re either exclusive or nothing at all. Your stand might be different. Let me know. Adios!!!!

I’m not going to get all historical or mushy here; I’m just going to put this out there for the world to know. There might be a million and one arguments against this my one point and I’m sure there’ll be exceptions too but I’m speaking for the general people.
Never have I, for one, been in love so deeply that that love superseded the love I feel for my siblings. Now here’s the ironic part: siblings are, oh my God, such a handful. I’m so sure I’m speaking for everyone who has a sibling, older or younger. All of you siblings, including me, are such a handful. They do as they like, whether you like it or not. I honestly don’t think anyone has the capacity to annoy me as much as my five siblings. On the other hands, friends, lovers and relationship partners usually try, even if it’s to a little extent to do things that’ll please you, keep you happy, enable peace to reign and all that. Yet even with all these pluses of people who are not ‘blood’, you still can’t help but love your ‘blood’ siblings more.
It just might be a purely natural instinct that we’re, I don’t know whether to say blessed or cursed with, (considering some siblings can annoy the flesh off your skin), but the person who said “blood is thicker than water’ is so right that the word ‘right’ is an understatement.
So to all the world’s siblings out there, even though you bring out both the best and the worst in us, life will be grossly incomplete without you. Shout out to all siblings!!

3 Ways to Motivate You to Show Up at Work Everyday

Mustering enough motivation to show up at work every day is a common problem…no matter if you love or hate your job. If you hate your job it goes without saying that finding the motivation to show-up is not easy.  But you’ll also find that even if you love your job, there are mornings where you’re clawing at the walls to get out of bed.

It’s easy to fall into a rut and get stuck in the same ho-hum routine. and inevitably, the excitement for work diminishes. However, if you consistently motivate yourself to show up at work every day, you’ll experience:

  • Increased energy levels to get the work done.
  • More enthusiasm to attack challenges as they arise.
  • Better sustained results over the long haul.

Motivation to Show up at Work?

If showing up at work every day were easy, everyone would be doing it. And it wouldn’t be costing businesses $84 Billion a year. Part of the issue though is that organizations attempt to motivate you with:

  • bonuses
  • promotions
  • attendance awards
  • company luaus
  • virtual dog shows
  • pizza

Not to say it’s necessary to do away with these incentives entirely, but organizations are missing a massive opportunity to provide you with the tools to motivate yourself to show up at work.   So, instead of depending on the organization to find motivation, here are 3 ways to motivate you to show up at work everyday.

1. Remind Yourself “Why” You Work

Too often, employees base their motivation on external sources like accolades, bonuses, and job promotion. Sure, these feel good but they’re just a “sugar high” and don’t last.

Consider your own motivation as something that’s internally sourced.  The simplest way to identify this internal sources of motivation is to find your own personal reason “why.”  Why motivates for the long haul. For example, maybe you’re heading to work on Monday to appease the boss, lay the groundwork for a raise,  or just get through a project that’s been hanging over your head for awhile.

It’s a lot like losing weight for a class reunion or a beach trip.  While both are definitely motivating factors to lose weight, it’s usually not sustained over the the long term.

Consider how your work day motivation changes when you think about the example you want to set for your kids, how you want to help your your co-workers that you’ve been with for years or how you believe in  overall mission in your company. Or simply, you believe that the job you’re doing helps you learn and prepare for the next step in your career. Those are deeper, more meaningful reasons to motivate to show up at work.

2. Use the Hemingway Technique

Nothing helps your work day motivation like momentum and Ernest Hemingway had a brilliant approach. His technique was to leave the last chapter or paragraph unfinished at the end of day especially when he knew exactly how it was going to end. Then when he sat down at his desk the following day, he could immediately start writing and build momentum for the rest of his day.  He’d never find himself at his desk wondering what to do next.

You can apply this technique to your work day motivation. Instead of staying late on Friday or working over the weekend to wrap up your work, pick a stopping place strategically, so when you get to work on Monday, you know exactly what to do next. This type of momentum will carry you through your work day.

3. Take Control

It’s so easy to let your first few hours of your work fill-up with meetings.  Take control by planning and scheduling your first few interactions of the day so you’re looking forward to them. Set up a coffee meeting or a conference call with someone at the office who is typically upbeat and creative. This is a low stress way to motivate because it just involves showing up…and a little bit of planning.

You can also gain motivation by connecting with your family at home. In my family, we often plan breakfast together and hold our own little breakfast party. It really helps us get our day started off right in every positive way and the motivational momentum we get carries over into work (and school).

Take one of the tips above and adopt it for your weekly routine.  Here’s to being motivated!

Skin Care for Men

Men, whoever told you that you do not need as much maintenance as women do just gave you the simplest lie ever and you believed it hook, line and sinker. Grammar put aside, that is a lie from the pit of hell. You guys definitely need maintenance of not more than women sef. This is because your layers of skin are thicker, pores are larger and there are more oil glands producing more lubrication for a longer period of time. So just as much as women need to have a skin care regimen, so should you guys. Here’s a simple one for starters.
1) Face Wash: It is ridiculously important to wash your face in the mornings and evenings. This helps with sweat and oil and all the stuff that should not be allowed to dwell or reside on your skin. Washing with a good soap is good but that is not all. A face cleanser that strikes a delicate balance between tough and tender. Look for a fragrance-free gel face wash suitable for all skin types that is strong enough to cut through those overactive male sebaceous glands yet gentle enough to be used every day.
2) Face Scrub/Exfoliation: Now this is a very needed one as every skin that is not as young as a baby’s is not devoid of dry cells and old skin. This is why exfoliation or face scrubbing is key. A simple granular face scrub e.g apricot-based will do this magic and even ease shaving so whatever is stored in your pores as a result of a hard day’s work will give way for new and fresh skin cells to give you the needed freshness for a good day.
3) Moisturize: The ageing process knows no man. Added to that is the constant shaving that you have to do to keep the boyish clean cut or manly beards to look good. Moisturizing replenishes the skin’s moisture content and prevents razor burn. A moisturizer with SPF will also provide a solid shield against the sun. Harsh UVB rays cause the skin to burn, but it’s the UVA rays that lead to long-term damage like deep lines and skin cancer. A moisturizer with multispectrum defense takes care of it all. Do not ignore this.
4) Face Toner: Men, ladies like you to look fresh and not excessively sweaty and oily all the time. Regular use of a toner can help dissolve skin impurities and cut through dirt. Male skin tends to produce excess sebum — the oily, waxy matter produced by the sebaceous glands — primarily on the face and scalp. Toner washes away the oil, prevents blackheads, tightens pores, and reduces shine. One with salicylic acid will also help treat acne breakouts.
5) Body wash: Call it too ladylike or whatever you want but know that feeling fresh is just as good for you as it is good for your woman. A shower gel is both more effective and sanitary than a bar of soap.
So men, all of this is not rocket science. These products that serve these purpose are affordable and beneficial. Trust me, you don’t want to look ten years older than your real age. Try this regimen and tell others.

Kids Company Handed £50million Despite Six Warnings From Civil Servants

Nearly £50million of taxpayers’ money was handed over to the collapsed charity Kids Company over the past 13 years despite ministers being warned on six occasions that the cash could be wasted, the spending watchdog has found.

The report from the National Audit Office found that Conservative and Labour ministers since 2002 repeatedly over-ruled the concerns from civil servants about the way the money was being spent.

The grants continued to flow despite a former manager at Kids Company personally warning civil servants and its trustees about the charity’s “senior management structure” and the way cash was being handed out to young people.

The charity, which was led by its high-profile founder Camila Batmanghelidjh, was able to attract the cash by issuing dire public warnings about its future whenever there were concerns about the continued supply of government money.

It was able to railroad ministers into handing over tens of millions of pounds in this way on six occasions between 2002 and June this year, the NAO found. On each occasion civil servants’ concerns about the charity were ignored.

The cash continued to flow despite a former manager at Kids Company warning civil servants and its trustees about its “senior management structure” and the way cash was being handed out to young people.

HM Revenue and Customs, in addition to writing off its tax debts of £590,000 in 2003, had also a secret arrangement “to pay off historic debts, but the amount of the debt is unknown”.

Speaking on Thursday, Ashley Mcdougall, who led on the report into Kids Company for the National Audit Office, said the government had failed to locate a key document analysing the impact of funding.

He told BBC Radio Four’s Today programme that the Education Department had been asked to hand over an analysis document about the company but it “wasn’t able” to find it.

Mr Mcdougall also said that even 13 years after public money stared being given to the company there was no agreed way to test what was being achieved with the investment.

Richard Heaton, formerly permanent secretary at the Cabinet Office, and Chris Wormald, permanent secretary at the Education Departmen will be questioned by MPs on the Public Accounts Committee next Monday about the way the cash was spent.

The hearing could prove embarrassing for the Government because two Cabinet Office ministers – Matthew Hancock and Oliver Letwin – specifically over-ruled civil servants’ objections to give the charity a £3million grant weeks before its collapse in the summer.

Meg Hillier, the Labour chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, said the sums which were spent despite the warnings were “unbelievable”.

She said: “This is a very stark report. Questions were being asked and, before answers were sought, more money was thrown at a charity that was clearly having issues.

“The question has to be asked: why did this keep happening repeatedly over 13 years?

“Government departments have questions to answer about how they held the charity to account for spending taxpayers’ hard earned money.”

At one point Kids Company was accounting up 20 per cent of the voluntary and community grants awarded by the Department for Education.

Monitoring Kids Company’s performance was made harder because the charity’s figures said that it was helping up to four times as many young people as the civil servants expected.

Kids Company reported that it worked with up to 36,000 children, young people and their family members.

Yet NAO found that when it closed in August just over 2,000 cases were handed to councils in London and Bristol.

A Kids Company spokesman said: “The NAO report makes it clear that this assessment does not investigate the value for money of Kids Company itself or the Trustees’ oversight.

“It should be emphasised that government grants to Kids Company have been independently audited on a regular basis.

“The report highlights Kids Company’s delivery of a ‘valuable local service for some of the most disadvantaged and hard to reach young people’ as well as acknowledging that ‘other organisations could learn lessons from the services Kids Company offered and its approach to these problems’.”

A Cabinet Office spokesman said: “Since 2002, successive governments have provided financial assistance to the charity to help it deliver services for vulnerable young people.

“The welfare of the young people has always and continues to be our top priority, and we will continue to work with local authorities, charities and youth clubs in Lambeth, Southwark, Camden and Bristol to support young people with the services they need.”

The trial had already been halted on Tuesday when the jury was discharged after a female member became ill.Halted: The jury was dismissed in a trial at Cardiff Crown Court after one juror 'favourited' a tweet.

I warned this man twice not to access social media before the trial. Before we even got to social media, there was a warning not to discuss this case with anyone at all.

Nigeria’s armed forces on Wednesday said it had rescued 338 people held captive by Boko Haram and raided a number of the Islamist militant group’s camps on the edge of its stronghold in the northeast’s Sambisa forest.

The army said troops carried out a successful raid on camps on Tuesday at the northeastern villages of Bulajilin and Manawashe, along Bita and Damboa road. Reuters was unable to independently verify the details of the military statement. “The rescued persons which comprised eight males, 138 females and 192 children, have since been evacuated,” said military spokesman Sani Usman, adding that 30 suspected militants had been killed.

Suspected members of the militant group, which has killed thousands and displaced 2.1 million people in the remote northeast of Africa’s most populous nation, claimed the lives of at least 37 people and wounded 107 others last week in Adamawa and Borno states.

The vast Sambisa forest reserve, the group’s remaining stronghold, has become hard to penetrate due to widespread landmines laid by the militant group. In the last few months the military has ramped up its offensive into the Sambisa and surrounding areas with air strikes and an increase in ground troops.

Security sources in neighbouring Niger on Wednesday blamed Boko Haram for the deaths of at least 14 people in an overnight attack on a village in Niger state, southeast of the country.
