U.S. Launches Ebola Vaccine Trial 2 women got the inoculation

Two women have been given an experimental Ebola vaccine as the U.S. National Institutes of Health launches a much-anticipated trial to combat the often-lethal virus that has plagued four West African nations.

The women, ages 39 and 27, are the first people to receive the vaccine, which had previously been tested only in monkeys, ABC News reported.

The fast-tracked clinical trial will test the safety of the vaccine and will include 20 men and women ages 18 to 50. No one will be infected with the disease. The vaccine was developed by the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and drug maker GlaxoSmithKline.

Human testing of the vaccine was expedited due to West Africa's Ebola outbreak that has killed more than 1,900 people.

"There is an urgent need for a protective Ebola vaccine, and it is important to establish that a vaccine is safe and spurs the immune system to react in a way necessary to protect against infection," NIAID Director Dr. Anthony Fauci said in a statement.

In a related matter, drug maker Johnson & Johnson said Thursday that it will seek to "fast-track" the development of what is called a promising new combination vaccine against Ebola. The start of the trial is scheduled for early 2015.

U.S. and global health officials on Wednesday underscored the need for greater resources -- both medical and financial -- to fight the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. The spread of the disease is outpacing efforts to control it, it could pose a global threat and will cost at least $600 million to contain it, officials said.

"This is not an African disease. This is a virus that is a threat to all humanity," Gayle Smith, special assistant to President Barack Obama and senior director at the U.S. National Security Council, told reporters during a news briefing, the Associated Press reported.

The highly virulent disease is spreading faster than health workers in Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone can manage, Dr. Tom Kenyon, director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Center for Global Health, said during the briefing.

The World Health Organization has predicted that as many as 20,000 people in West Africa could become infected within three months.

Kenyon, who recently visited West Africa, said the tools to stop the outbreak exist -- they just have to be put in place. He said more treatment centers are being opened and talks are under way with the African Union to send additional health workers to the continent, theAP reported.

"I think we're confident if we put these treatment units up, the health workers will come, but of course they have to be adequately trained and supervised and equipped with personal protective equipment," he said.

7 Simple Strategies for Controlling Diabetes

Who_Benefits_-_Diabetics_Picture

1. Eat three well-balanced meals a day, with four to five hours between each meal. This can help keep blood sugar consistent all day.

2.Avoid eating most breakfast cereals, which are usually high in carbohydrates. The body tends to be more insulin-resistant in the morning, causing a spike in blood sugar levels. Instead, eat a high-protein breakfast such as an egg-white omelet with low-fat ham, cheese, and chopped vegetables.

3.Avoid nondiet juices, sports drinks, and soda. All these contain simple sugars that can cause blood sugar to spike.

4.Use breads, such as tortillas, made from 10 percent whole wheat and brown rice instead of white.

5.Read the Nutrition Facts label and choose foods with less than 25 grams of carbohydrates per serving, less than 250 grams of sodium (salt) per serving, and at least three grams of fiber per serving.

6.Exercise moderately for at least 150 minutes a week, or 30 minutes per day for five days a week. Moderate exercises include walking, swimming, bicycling, and dancing.

7. Be aware of the symptoms of hypoglycemia, or low blood sugar. These include headache, cold sweats, shakiness, and blurred vision. If you have these symptoms, follow the “15-15 rule”: eat 15 grams of carbohydrates immediately. This can be a half-cup of orange juice, one glass of skim milk, or half a can of regular soda. If you don’t feel better after 15 minutes, eat another 15 grams. If it is less than 30 minutes until your next meal, don’t wait. Eat it right away. If the symptoms persist,

Serena Williams ended a difficult-for-her Grand Slam season in the best way possible, winning her third consecutive U.S. Open title by beating Caroline Wozniacki 6-3, 6-3 on Sunday.

Williams equaled Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova with 18 major singles titles, the fourth-most in history. Williams also matched Evert's total of six championships at the U.S. Open and became the first woman to win three in a row since Evert's four-title run from 1975-78.

Williams earned a $4 million winner's check, a record in tennis — $3 million for the title, plus a $1 million bonus for having had the best results during the North American summer hard-court circuit.

Congo were tactically better than Eagles, says Le Roy

Claude-Le-Roy

Congo head coach Claude Le Roy has revealed that his men were tactically better than Nigeria following their 3-2 win in Saturday’s African Nations qualifier in Calabar.

The visitors came from a goal down to stun the African champions to launch their bid to make their first Afcon appearance since 2000.

"Our tactics worked as we worked on all the Nigerian players,” Le Roy said at the post-match conference.

"Musa, Oshaniwa, Ambrose – and the players did what we wanted them to do.

"We won and It was a huge result for us because we were better tactically but we now have to focus on Sudan.

The Frenchman revealed how he had psyched his team up before the kickoff and believes his side can make exploits if they keep their head calm.

"I told my players not to be impressed by Nigeria’s pedigree as Africa champions and getting as far as the round of 16 at the World Cup, and it worked,” he continued.

"If we remain very humble and confident, we can do great things. The early goal against us could have killed us, but we were strong.

"We are not there yet, this is just the start. Teams will come at us now with expectations so we have to maintain our discipline if we want to be at the Nations Cup in Morocco next year,” he concluded.

Are You Making This Mistake Every Time You Buy Shoes?

shoes

As we’ve mentioned before, sizing is complicated. There’s no real standard in the fashion industry, and it often ends up that though we may be a size 0 in one store, we’re a size 6 in another. Not to mention that most people’s measurements change a lot throughout our lives. Whether it’s a few extra pounds gained in winter months, or muscle built from a new workout plan—we don’t really expect our bodies to stay exactly the same for our entire lives.

Yet for some reason, most people assume their shoe size will never change. Just like the rest of our bodies, says Elle, people’s feet are constantly changing in small ways. But because so many of us never consider this a possibility, many women are wearing shoes that are too small. This is not only extremely uncomfortable, it also can cause serious damage to feet.

Elle also notes that in general, people’s feet are bigger than they were 40 years ago:

In general, the average shoe size has gone up two sizes since the 1970s, and designers and retailers are feeling the effects. Stuart Weitzman told The Wall Street Journal that his company’s average size used to be a 7, but has crept up to an 8, and he now makes shoes that go up to size 12 due to increased demand.

Yet despite this fact, many women are still caught up in the Cinderella complex, feeling that their femininity and beauty are somehow tied to having small, dainty feet. But body positivity applies below the ankles, too. And just because your feet were a size 7 in college, just because you maybe spent too much money on shoes that are a size 7, that doesn’t mean you should still be wearing a size 7. Measure your feet. Try on a few different sizes. Make sure your shoes actually fit. How are you going to run the world with pinched toes, after all?

What You Can Learn from Serena Williams About Competing Against Friends

t’s tough to compete against friends—especially when your competition is broadcast to the entire world. But last night, Serena Williams celebrated a U.S. Open final win against bestie Caroline Wozniacki, making this her 18th Grand Slam title. And while the win from the No. 1 female player in the world isn't so surprising, William's post-game (and incredibly sportsmanlike!) actions are what have us hooked.

After sweating it out in the end-of-summer heat, Williams and Wozniaki met up for a night out in New York City, celebrating their successes. In an interview after the match, Wozniacki joked to Williams, saying, “You’re an unbelievable friend—and you definitely owe drinks later." Last night, Williams took to Instagram to showcase the two enjoying that well-deserved evening.

Leading up to the match, Williams gushed to the New York Times, "It feels good just to have that relationship with someone else where you can give 100 percent on the court, and at the end of the day, we’re still friends.”

serena-700

While we love seeing these ladies battle it out on the court, it's the way they act off the court that really shows what great competitors they are. Take this lesson from them: There may be tension if you're training for a 5K and your best friend is always a few seconds faster, but when you leave the gym or the training run ends, leave that tension behind and focus on what’s important. It certainly seems to be working for these two.

Congratulations to both of these amazing women for an unbelievable run in this year's tournament. What did you think of the finals? Do you compete with your friends on a regular basis?

Colors take front row seat at NY Fashion Week

Early in the day, one of fashion's own (albeit a sharp-tongued one) was remembered at Joan Rivers' funeral. Among the guests: designers Carolina Herrera and Michael Kors, and E! network "Fashion Police" co-hosts Giuliana Rancic and Kelly Osbourne.

Victoria Beckham took a conservative approach to spring 2015; Joseph Altuzarra went for girly naivete inspired by Roman Polanski and Stanley Kubrick. And Public School went coed. Nanette Lepore was inspired by the beaches of California and the south of France.

Among the highlights:

DKNY

The DNA of DKNY has always been about New York. But Donna Karan paid homage to the city's different cultures and neighborhoods through an explosion of bright patterns of reds, blues and yellows and a heavy dose of textures from mesh to viscose wool for her spring 2015 runway show on Sunday.

In an interview after her show, Karan said that her spring collection is about "the streets of New York. The people of New York. The art of New York. The energy of New York. The modernity of New York."

"It's really the collective," Karan said. "Thinking of high energy, what is tomorrow and celebrating the people ... from all different cultures and walks of life. And giving them a freedom to have fun."

The result? The DKNY runway collection, which is more casual and less expensive than her signature line, featured oversized wool sweaters in red and ink blue geometric patterns paired with pleated striped skirts, and red and blue nylon T-shirt dresses. There was also a black and white capsule of striped strapless tops paired with full skirts in black mesh. Some gold looks shimmered down the runway too, like gold-plated nylon quilted cropped bomber jackets paired with a black viscose stretch short tube skirt or a gold-plated nylon quilted full skirt.

The show opened with a one-minute film featuring young New Yorkers talking about why they like the city.

Actress Victoria Justice, best known for starring in the Nickelodeon TV series "Victorious" and a devotee of the brand, was in the audience.

"I love DKNY so much. I am such a huge fan," said Justice, who says she believes this is her third DKNY show. "It's just like classic New York street chic and it's edgy and it's totally my vibe."

Justice acknowledges there's lots of pressure to look your best during Fashion Week, but she's having fun too. "At the end of the day it's just about feeling good in the clothes and having fun and doing different things with your hair and makeup and taking risks and just being a girl and loving every second of it," she added.

Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne, whose catchily named, heavily street-influenced menswear brand has had a meteoric rise the last few years, stepped wholeheartedly into womenswear Sunday with a spring 2015 collection divided equally between the genders.

"It was actually even a little more women's than men's, which is obviously different for us," Osborne noted with a smile after the show.

The designers, who capped off a whirlwind few years by winning, in June, the Council of Fashion Designers of America menswear award over more established colleagues, noted that expanding into women's clothes had opened up an exciting new range of ideas.

"I think we have a wonderful opportunity to do something with our womenswear collection," Chow said. "Playing with shapes and colors — you know, those things that sort of make womenswear fun to do."

The color palette included black, but also white and a bold electric blue. Shapes went from large and boxy, as in oversized jackets, shirts and vests, often paired with loose-falling shorts, to sleek, as in a striking black sleeveless dress with side cutout detail, worn over an electric blue shirt dress that peeked out underneath.

Also striking: A long-sleeved women's pullover sweater with "open sleeves," leaving bare arms hanging freely in front, with the sweater sleeves almost like a train, and a silky electric blue blouse that fell almost to the knee.

Shirt tails hung out defiantly. Hats were unisex; in a somewhat odd touch, both men and women wore what resembled military caps. "We had a lot of ideas so that was sort of the difficult part, trying to sort through it all," Chow said afterward. "We really wanted to turn it up a bit, in terms of shape and silhouette."

VICTORIA BECKHAM

There were lots of stripes, muted colors and sleek looks as Victoria Beckham presented her spring/summer collection, which she says is a redefinition of her line.

Beckham had her show in a cathedral-like hall off of Wall Street — an apropos setting for her clothes, which looked like they were designed for a stockbroker looking for something that was glamorous, sexy — but still workplace appropriate.

In general, she would do well with Beckham's collection, which, save for a few pink floral outfits including a shirt dress, had a bit of a conservative tone. In a palette that mostly ranged from tan to taupe and black, with accents of white or an occasional maroon, there were sleek solid coats of varying lengths, boxy dresses, and pantsuits. But of course, being Beckham's line, they were not exactly traditional; there was a long coatdress with a red belt, a white accent stripe at the bottom and an asymmetrical design that made for a clever, one-breasted panel. One black dress had cut-out, exposed shoulders, and other coats and dresses had cutouts that showed off sharp shoulder blades and minuscule waists. There were also sweater dresses and long layered skirts.

Notables in the audience: husband David Beckham and Anna Wintour.

In describing her line, Beckham said the launch of her new retail space in London had made her redefine her clothes with "the idea of creating an eclectic uniform in the form of an exact, yet wearable wardrobe that embodies the evolution of the collection."

NANETTE LEPORE

Nanette Lepore, known for her youthful feminine fashions, sent embroidered caftans and colorful dresses with halter tops and cut-out backs down the runway on Sunday as a way to escape to warm, sunny places.

Lepore invoked the coasts of Calfornia and France during an interview backstage before her show.

"It's about beautiful colors of the sky and the sea and the bright sun," she said. "It's fun, beachy places. I'm really trying to play up that fresh, feminine cool vibe."

Lepore's spring 2015 collection featured yellow tent dresses, white strapless dresses, and embroidered black and white caftans. There were also floral two-piece and one-piece swimsuits.

"I used to go to California every summer as a kid. So I've always had really fond memories. And I love visiting the south of France."

JOSEPH ALTUZARRA

In a spring collection that moved easily through pink seersucker gingham tailored for adult women into open leather lattice in vests and dresses, Joseph Altuzarra ended his New York Fashion Week show on Saturday with breezy deconstructed gowns that included one glistening in gold.

It was a long journey, inspired in part by the girlish naivete of the devil's childbearer in Roman Polanski's "Rosemary's Baby" and the Irish rogue in Stanley Kubrick's "Barry Lyndon."

The finale's gold chiffon, along with two other loose gowns in red and pink prints, were Altuzarra's 21st-century response to the constraints of 18-century clothing for women.

Though he had some see-through moments that wouldn't work for most, the spring collection Saturday night seemed intended to make a woman's life just a tad easier.

"I really think about clothes that women want to wear," he said in a backstage interview after the show. "I think that's what's really interesting for me."

The finales, with deep V-necks and pearl embroidery, were re-imaginings intended for all body types.

"They were inspired by these 18th-century very restricting crinoline dresses, but what would happen if you sort of took out all of the underpinnings and you had this very deflated shape. I think it was a metaphor for this narrative of going from very constricted to freed."

You can always count on Ashish to have one of the most sunglasses-requiringly dazzling runways of London Fashion Week. Today’s show was also dripping with more sequins than a Mardi Gras parade, but it wasn’t just dem bedazzled jeans or the fluffy platforms soon to come to Topshop/eBay giving us life. It was the models.

Ashish is the only designer this season to have cast a lineup off all-black models. With the pasty lolita look making an undeniable resurgence on the New York runways, it’s cool to see a hyped designer making a strong but not weird and contrived statement about the continued dominance of white faces despite model diversity being an ongoing conversation.

Ugandan kids reinventing the wheel

shoes-horizontal-gallery

On the streets of the Ugandan capital of Kampala, scores of vulnerable children face uncertain futures.

Living down alleyways and trying to make a living near busy traffic junctions, these kids are often subject to abuse and exploitation. Youth unemployment is rampant in the east-central African country, with reports by international bodies, like the African Development Bank, putting estimates as high as 83%.

tires-horizontal-gallery

But one former street kid, Innocent Byaruhanga, is hoping to turn things around. In 2011, Byaruhanga launched Pamoja, a center working with former street children and vulnerable youth to produce sustainable shoes out of disused tires.

"What we did was come up with [an] idea that can give skills to these children," says Byaruhanga.

A former street child himself, Byaruhanga is well aware of what hundreds of vulnerable kids are being exposed to -- dangers like substance abuse, crime, lack of nutrition, exploitation and stigmatization.

"The biggest challenge that youth and former street children face is unemployment and drug abuse," he explains. "They are either exploited by the drug lords or use them to enable them forget their problems. This is because they live in poor conditions and have to cope with their poverty or find a livelihood by all means available to them."

two-children-shoes-horizontal-gallery

Trash into treasure

Byaruhanga's Pamoja Center is an initiative of his not-for-profit, Save Street Children Uganda, which he established in 2005. The center's goal is to help the youth realize their potential by equipping them with techniques and knowledge that they can use to "make a contribution to society within their communities."

"We came out with an idea of making shoes and we said what can we do that people are not doing?" explains Byaruhanga. "What can we do that will attract people to buy? What can we do in order that will earn us money at a quicker speed and at the same time which is very cheap?"

The answers weren't far: looking around the slums, the resourceful entrepreneur saw piles of ruined tires laying strewn aside, so he decided to turn trash into treasure.

"We want to use the things that people don't see as valuable," says Byaruhanga as he outlines the startup's approach. "Number one: Ugandan-made; two: Ugandan-owned; three: made from the thing that people don't see; four: we want to do something that is very durable," he says. "The work we are doing is not only help us to create employments for vulnerable children. We also want to protect the environment."

Creating leaders
And so from exhausted rubber tires, youngsters in Kampala are taught how to cut and manufacture eco-friendly footwear. Since 2011, Byaruhanga says Pamoja Center has been able to employ and train over 80 former street children and 37 vulnerable community youth aged between 12 to 24 years old.

Not only that, but for every pair of shoes produced and sold, Pamoja shares the profits with the youthful cobbler, in turn allowing them to support themselves.

"We want to surprise the entire Uganda as a nation. We want to set up an industry," Byaruhanga says full of vigor. "Young people should be the ones to lead, to make decision-making.

"We want to create jobs for the youth, we want to create jobs for former street children, and also the orphans."

Besides fixing yesterday’s update, here is what Apple says iOS 8.0.2 will do:

1. Fixes an issue in iOS 8.0.1 that impacted cellular network connectivity and Touch ID on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

2. Fixes a bug so HealthKit apps can now be made available on the App Store

3. Addresses an issue where 3rd party keyboards could become deselected when a user enters their passcode

4. Fixes an issue that prevented some apps from accessing photos from the Photo Library

5. Improves the reliability of the Reachability feature on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

6. Fixes an issue that could cause unexpected cellular data usage when receiving SMS/MMS messages

7. Better support of Ask To Buy for Family Sharing for In-App Purchases

8. Fixes an issue where ringtones were sometimes not restored from iCloud backups

9. Fixes a bug that prevented uploading photos and videos from Safari.
It’s pretty much everything that iOS 8.0.1 was supposed to fix but with less iPhone crippling. According to an Apple statement provided to Business Insider, fewer than 40,000 iPhones were affected by the iOS 8.0.1 update yesterday.

Argentine cops put police drones to work finding undeclared mansions

A lot of people fear that drones might invade their privacy (and for good reason), but put to good use, UAVs can help monitor crops, film spectacular aerial views and, in this case, capture tax-evading millionaires. Law enforcement agencies in South America have been using drones widely to aid in their investigations, such as finding drug smuggling routes. So, when they suspected that some properties registered as empty lots in a wealthy Buenos Aires area aren't exactly "empty," they dispatched some of their $10,000 drones equipped with cameras to take pictures of the properties.

As you might have guessed, instead of coming up with pictures of dirt and overgrown bushes, the UAVs took home snapshots of huge mansions replete with swimming pools. The homeowners are now facing some serious fines, and the government expects to earn roughly $2 million in taxes from the hidden mansions.

According to The Telegraph, South American countries have been buying relatively more affordable drones from Israel and Mexico by the bulk -- something that's raised concerns among the region's human rights activists. As Alejandro Sanchez of the Council on Hemispheric Affairs told the publication, cheap drones have great potential in the area, but "unfortunately, throughout Latin America's history, the abuse of power tends to happen quite often."

As I typed the letter "R" his name wasn't there again. I felt a tear run down my cheek.Few months everybody envied us,we fought a lot but I bet you, you'll never know. The relationship was close to been perfect....we had our dreams,we supported each other, prayed together, played and fought our hearts out.

I can't really say what went wrong but I know we still feel for each other...maybe little but there's something left. Nonye will always say " when I see clinton and Jane" I believe there's love so I'll wait for mine. She still didn't believe that we where through... who would have believed?

Our pictures where all over, our names where on everyone's lips........He always says "Don't let anyone be in charge of your happiness" now I know why he kept saying this I guess he knew he would leave soon. If I knew I would have ended the statement with " Your my happiness" maybe he would have stayed.  Oops this story isn't about him its about how I survived...its about who helped me.

You see no one can love you the way God loves you....I knew that,I know that...so I went to him and asked for strength, just strength to move on and that strength he gave me. He gave me what I asked faster than I could end my prayer . All of a sudden I wanted to be around people that was how I meet ifeanyi. God will forever be king. Ifeanyi and I meet in a very funny way it took us one night and we started caring for each other. People call it a "Rebound" but all I could think of was how God could bring someone now.....it occurred to me that clinton was "gone forever".  Daily I had a closer bond with God. Ifeanyi of cause wanted to see me everyday....I always said no matter how bad you treat me I'll still maintain that love exists....  God is love....God lives...love lives!!!
Every single day felt new I won't leave some people out of this story..."Ayo-who made me feel so beautiful with words" "wunmi who kept on reminding me of how great I am" "Wonu- who kept me on the right path" "Nonye-who always teased about him". I call them my best EST bestie "Gabby,Wonu,Bidemi and Demi" these four people have proved that life has so many other exciting things ...all you have to do is pray and wait your turn.

Finally ifeanyi who held on even when I pushed him out ...am still pushing even though I want him to hold on!Each day I got better,I paid more attention on "ME" and I learnt that before you can succeed in any relationship your relationship with God has to be perfect!

No relationship is ever a waste of time. If it didn't bring you what you want, it taught you what you don't want. I still pray for clinton... I know we'll meet again. I taught him how to pray he won't forget that.I think whatever your in,you should give your best....I gave my best. "Give people the love they don't deserve & be sure they will  leave. But then, that makes you the love they regret letting go off. I hope you learnt something.

Keep your eyes clued for more of this as I take you all though the "Diary of pretty Jane"

How to mend a broken heart.

mending-a-heart

“to fall in love is awfully simple, but to fall out of love is simply awful,”  especially if you are the one who wanted the relationship to last. But to stop loving isn’t an option. When those you love deeply reject you, leave you, or die, your heart will be broken. But that should not hold you back from loving deeply. The pain that comes from deep love makes your love ever more fruitful.  But how do we get beyond the pain? Here are some tips gathered from experts and from conversations with friends on how they patched up their heart and tried, ever so gradually, to move on.

1. Go through it, not around it.

I realize the most difficult task for a person with a broken heart is to stand still and feel the crack. But that is exactly what she must do. Because no shortcut is without its share of obstructions. Here’s a simple fact: You have to grieve in order to move on and surface as a stronger person ready to tackle problems head on.

 2. Stand on your own.

One of the most liberating thoughts I repeat to myself when I’m immersed in grief and sadness is this: “I don’t need anyone or anything to make me happy.” That job is all my own, with a little help from God. When I’m experiencing the intense pangs of grief, it is so difficult to trust that I can be whole without that person in my life. But I have learned over and over again that I can. I really can. It is my job to fill the emptiness, and I can do it … creatively, and with the help of my higher power.

3. Detach.

Attempting to fill the void yourself–without rushing to a new relationship or trying desperately to win your lover back–is essentially what detaching is all about.

4. Laugh. And cry.

Laughter heals on many levels  and so does crying. You think it’s just a coincidence that you always feel better after a good cry? Nope, there are many physiological reasons that contribute to the healing power of tears.

5. Work it out.

Working out your grief quite literally – by running, swimming, walking, or kick-boxing – is going to give you immediate relief. On a physiological level–because exercise increases the activity of serotonin and/or norepinehrine and stimulates brain chemicals that foster growth of nerve cells.

In London, on October 4, the Igbo Institute in association with the Centre for African Studies (CAS) at SOAS, University of London, will be hosting a symposium to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the publication of Chinua Achebe’s novel, Arrow of God – described by Achebe as “the novel which I am most likely to be caught sitting down to read again”.

As this year also marks Nigeria’s centenary, both anniversaries have shaped the symposium’s theme; “50 Years of Arrow of God, 100 Years of Nigeria: A Celebration and an Inquest”.

The symposium will bring together writers, academics, publishers and the general public to celebrate Achebe’s important work. It is also tasked with both looking to the past and the future in addressing issues such as the challenges Nigeria has faced and continues to face, the role of Arrow of God in telling Nigeria’s story and drawing links between Arrow of God and contemporary African history. There is an Igbo proverb, often used by Chinua Achebe which states that the man who doesn’t know where the rain began to beat him cannot say where he dried his body

Members of the prestigious Tri-college communities of Haverford, Bryn Mawr, and Swarthmore Colleges are hosting (IR)REVERENCE: a conference in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Chinua Achebe’s novel, Arrow of God from Oct. 6–9 at various arenas and addresses on the beautiful campuses of Pennsylvania, USA, based Haverford, Bryn Mawr, and Swarthmore Colleges.
