7 Things Women Need To Know About Men

$
0
0

There are a lot of things men wish women knew about them. You know, if you could enter into the heart of the guy you’re in a relationship with, I’m pretty sure every relationship would last forever. But the truth is the less we know about our men, the more likely it is to do things that they just might not like. So here are a few things men want women to know about them that will go as far as helping the little emotions they express.

  • They can only do one thing at a time – Get this: women are multi-taskers, men are not. This is most probably the reason men can tell you about their day as you cook dinner in the kitchen while you’re thinking about the best approach to the assignment from your boss and the best outfit to wear to that event coming up…oh and the children and running around and distracting your attention, but somehow you still manage to get a handle on every part. This might work for women, but sadly does not work for men. They face one task at a time. The best way to handle this is to let them know when you need their undivided attention so they give it to you and there are no qualms anywhere. If they can’t, they’ll most likely just tell you they’re doing something else.
  • They appreciate the little things – You don’t have to go out of your way or pocket to please your man at all. Men are very simple creatures so it doesn’t have to be anything massive. It could be as meaningful as an affirming word, as creative as cooking his favourite meal, or as simple as seeing a clean basket of his folded laundry. They basically appreciate the small things more than any woman would ever imagine.
  • Don’t mistake their kindness for weakness – We’ve all heard of those women who are attracted to the “bad guys”. Our culture paints the picture of excitement and fun in relationships with these seemingly “tough guys”. What needs to be realized among our culture at large is that there is immeasurable strength and courage in a man with a kind heart. Compassion, kindness, and tenderness are signs of nothing but true masculinity, and it is these kinds of “boring men” that make the most amazing husbands- the ones that love, give, and sacrifice to the very last breath.
  • They care less about looks than you think – as much as men like their women to look good, looks are not all they care about and it is definitely not their priority in a woman. From what I’ve, men see women as most beautiful in the most natural form of themselves. They don’t need the frills, sparkles and scents but they don’t mind them. And they definitely don’t care about the bags, the shoes, or the nails but they don’t mind them either. At the end of the day, a real man is not looking for the most beautiful woman in the world, but for the one who will make his world most beautiful.
  • The worst thing you can do is put them down – Criticism is a man’s worst nightmare. Deep down, all men are like little boys- trying to please the primary woman in their life. They want to please her, and they hold their head up high as she looks into their eyes with a look of approval and delight. The one thing that can snuff out their joy in a moment’s notice- is to put them down. To notice the things they aren’t doing, aren’t saying, and aren’t completing- instead of notice all of the good things that they are. They’d rather you appreciate them for the ones they’ve done but even if criticism is necessary, which it is sometimes, it is better done in love than with hostility.
  • They think a woman’s most attractive quality is her confidence – There is nothing more attractive to a man than a woman who can hold her head up high, believing the good things about who God has made her to be. Because a woman of confidence is aware that she is valuable, there is no need to flirt around or flaunt her stuff. Though most men will tell you it’s important to be attracted to their significant other, the truth is, attraction always runs deep. And the thing about confidence is that a woman will never truly believe that a man thinks she’s beautiful, until she actually believes it for herself. True confidence cannot be replaced.
  • They want to be your friend and your lover – Just as much as women don’t want to play “mommy” to their man- a man doesn’t want to be treated like a child. Men want to be loved by feeling respected, and treated that way. They want to know that you are by their side not to take care of them, but to be there for and with them. Most men are looking for a woman to laugh with, to play with, and to enjoy life with. They are looking for a best friend to marry, and a loyal partner to love for life. So give your man some credit, and treat him like the equal partner you expect him to be–he just might live up to it.

Whoa!!! That was refreshing as far as knowledge of the ‘so-called’ simple men. If we ladies can observe these things, the emotions and love of our men would definitely run deeper than deep.

It’s in the stars, people. You don’t have to agree but here is what is said about how people with these zodiac signs love.

According to astrologer, Phyllis Vega, these are the qualities your sign possesses, and those qualities ultimately affect your love life. She breaks down how the different signs approach love among the four types of signs: fire, earth, air, and water.

Fire signs: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius – You tend to be romantic and passionate. Your relationships are hardly uneventful due to you being impulsive and spontaneous. Thanks to these traits, you aren’t as afraid of rejection like others, which can be good.

Earth signs: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn – You’re more practical than others when it comes to matters of the heart. You’re happy with material things that make you comfortable. You’re very cautious when it comes to love and you’re very sensitive to physical sensations.

Air signs: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius – Flirting and romance is right up your alley. However, looks aren’t enough for you. You need a relationship where you can connect intellectually, have a friendship, and hold a great conversation.

Water signs: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces – You’re emotional, intuitive, and empathetic. If the person you love is down in the dumps, you really take on that feeling. You can be very vulnerable in a relationship due to intuition and your big imagination.

US NEWS: All Industries Continue To Pay Women Less

Women get paid less than men in every industry in the United States, says PayScale in a report issued Thursday.

PayScale, a web-based resource on jobs and salaries, issued the Gender Pay Gap, which compares salaries paid across industries, in different geographic areas and by ages, gender and marital status. The data is from 1.4 million people who took an online survey over a two-year period of time and is weighted to take into consideration length of time on the job, company size, management responsibilities and skills.

The survey found there is no industry where women are paid equal to or more than men in similar positions. Overall, women are paid 2.7 percent less than men when they have the same level of experience.

The technology industry does the best at equalizing pay with the gap narrowed to a 1.4 percent difference. Farming, fishing and forestry occupations have the largest overall gender pay gap at nearly 10 percent.

For the financial services and insurance industries, the pay gap is 4 percent putting it fourth on the list of 20 industries.

According to PayScale, married men have the highest median salaries, $67,900 for men with children and $60,800 for those without, compared with single moms, who have the lowest median salaries at $45,500. Male salaries continue to increase until they reach the age range of 50 to 55, with a median salary of $75,000. Female salaries plateau much earlier, between the ages of 35 to 40, with a median salary of $49,000.

Getting more education does not seem to level the playing field. Among Ph.D. holders, women are paid 5.1 percent less and among MBA holders there is a 4.7 percent gap. Pay gaps also get wider the higher a person goes on the corporate ladder. Male executives earn 6.1 percent more than women executives.

PayScale found that women are more likely to say their jobs are meaningful and satisfying, but also more likely to say that their jobs are stressful. Women are also more likely to report that they are underemployed

FG to pay oil marketers N413bn subsidy debts

$

The Federal Government, yesterday, approved the payment of N413 billion to petroleum products marketers being the outstanding payment for subsidy claims‎, even as marketers insist they are owed about N470billion.

The development comes as the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, (PPPRA), which is responsible for approving such claims revealed that it was yet to be notified of the payment. The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, in a statement in Abuja, also said it has injected additional volumes of Premium Motor Spirit, (PMS)‎, or petrol across the country to boost supply of the product and eliminate the long queues that have resurfaced in many parts of the country.

The statement, signed by the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division‎, NNPC, Mr. Ohi Alegbe, noted that the payment of the outstanding N413 billion subsidy claims to oil marketers is part of the Government’s initiative of zero tolerance to fuel queues nationwide. Alegbe said: ‎”It is our belief that with the outstanding payment due to oil marketers now assured, the marketers and other downstream players will join hands with the NNPC to guarantee that the nation remains wet with petroleum products all year round.”

PPPRA recommendations:

A top management source at the PPPRA, who spoke with Vanguard on the telephone, said the Agency is not aware that approvals had been given for the payment of N413 billion to marketers. He however admitted, “Although we have made recommendations on what to be paid to the Ministry of Finance, but have not yet got any feedback,” without giving more details into how much was recommended for payment. When asked to justify whether oil marketers were truly owed N470 billion, as exclusively reported by Vanguard yesterday, the source said: “Marketers are entitled to their own opinion, just as we are entitled to our own based on the claim papers we have processed. What needs to be asked is, at what point are they making the claim because requests are being made on daily basis.”

Marketers told Vanguard that they are being owed about N470 billion in outstanding subsidy claims from August 1, 2014 till date.

But the PPPRA source noted that “Sometimes, marketers have only just made orders for supply of PMS, and even without dropping one litre of petrol in their tanks, they are already calculating how much they are being owed even without processing their claims. “So it our duty to verify and certify their claims, on which basis we make recommendations to Finance to pay them.”

Increase in products supply:

Meanwhile, Alegbe also said that in line with its drive to ensure zero fuel queues ahead of the forthcoming yuletide and beyond, NNPC is working diligently with other stakeholders for sustainable supply of products. These include its downstream subsidiary company, the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company, PPMC, and other downstream players to consolidate the prevailing stability in the supply and distribution of fuel nationwide. He said: “Apart from increasing the volume of products distributed to stations across the country, inspection team from the PPMC have been commissioned to go round our operational areas to ensure compliance with laid down rules regarding loading and product evacuation across board to eliminate hoarding and other vices detrimental to the free flow of products.”

The Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR, had earlier in the week lamented the fuel supply situation in some states in the country, warning that that any petroleum products depots and filling stations owners engaged in sharp practices would be fined heavily and also prosecuted for economic sabotage. Director of the DPR, Mordecai Ladan, had in a statement in Abuja, warned oil marketers against products diversion, hoarding, pump manipulation and selling products above government approved prices. According to Ladan, any petroleum products marketer found to be under-dispensing or selling products above government regulated prices shall be suspended for a minimum of two months. Ladan also stated that the DPR is collaborating with the Petroleum Equalization Fund (PEF) and the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, ( PPPRA), to ensure that defaulters are sanctioned accordingly.

To this end, he stated that all DPR offices nationwide have been directed to step up their monitoring activity and ensure full compliance by marketers.

Electricity commission’s “N2.7bn severance package” angers Reps

The House of Representatives on Wednesday, 4th November, 2015, mandated its Committee on Power to investigate alleged approval of N2.7 billion severance package to members of the board of Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

This emanated from a motion under matter of urgent public importance, sponsored by Mohammed Gololo (APC-Bauchi).

In the motion, Mr. Gololo described the board’s approval of the payment of such package as unconstitutional, saying that it was not authorised by the National Assembly in the 2015 Appropriation Act. He added that the planned payment conflicted with the recommendations of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission. Mr. Gololo also argued the approval also offended section 42 (1) (a) and (b) of the Electric Power Sector Reform Act, adding that NERC had no recurrent expenditure in the 2015 budget. “This suggests that the commission either does not pay any salaries to its board members and staff or pay salaries from funds that have not been paid into the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the Federation,’’ Mr. Gogolo said.

The motion was unanimously adopted by the lawmakers, and was referred to the Committee on Power for investigation.

Senate Rejects Proposal to Pay Unemployed Youth N5, 000 Monthly

The Senate on Wednesday rejected a motion for the payment of N5, 000 monthly allowance to unemployed youths in the country.

The motion was sponsored by Philip Aduda (PDP, FCT) but was greeted with shouts of “no, no” when he tried to explain it. Attempts by the Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio, to second the motion were disrupted by the rowdiness.

Intervening, President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, posed the question but the senators responded along party lines. While Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members yelled ‘’aye’’ in favour of the motion, All Progressives Congress (APC) senators, who were in majority, rejected it.

In his remarks, Mr. Saraki urged the senators to take the issue of unemployment very seriously and not play politics with it. “We should stay above party line on this issue that is so important. We have seen growth in the last years but this has not translated to employment. Government alone cannot do it; the private sector has a role to play and the enabling environment must be created,” he said.

PDP leaders have lately called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the ruling APC to fulfil their campaign promise of paying N5, 000 to unemployed Nigerian youth.

The motion on Wednesday is believed to have been part of that call.

Migrant crisis: Three million expected to reach EU by 2017

$

Three million migrants are likely to arrive in Europe by 2017 as the record influx via the Mediterranean continues, the European Commission says.

The EU’s executive arm said the influx would have a “small but positive” effect on EU economic output, raising GDP by 0.2-0.3%.

The influx will raise the EU population by 0.4%, the Commission forecasts, taking account of failed asylum claims.

The flow of Syrian refugees to Europe shows no sign of abating, the UN says.

The weather in the Aegean Sea has got rougher with the onset of winter. But Peter Sutherland, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s special representative on migration, said Syrians were not put off by that.

The Syrian war “is driving people to desperation in terms of leaving and it will continue in its effects”, he told the BBC.

“This is now a global responsibility, but it is a particular European responsibility,” he said.

‘5,000 daily’

Conflicts and abuses in Iraq, Afghanistan, Eritrea and Somalia are also pushing people towards Europe.

The flow of refugees and other migrants from Turkey to Greece is expected to continue at a rate of 5,000 daily this winter, the UN refugee agency UNHCR says.

Refugees board an aircraft at Athens airportImage copyrightAP
Image captionOn Wednesday the EU began relocating some Syrian refugees from Greece to Luxembourg

Delivering the EU’s autumn economic forecast, EU Economic Commissioner Pierre Moscovici said extra public spending and the extra labour supply from recognised refugees would lead to a small GDP rise in the EU as a whole.

However, the Commission cautioned that “the uncertainty surrounding the influx thus far and its future development is substantial”.

‘Dire prediction’

Commenting on the three million figure given by the Commission, UKIP leader Nigel Farage said “nothing illustrates the need to be out of the EU and to restore proper border controls more than this dire prediction”.

The UK Independence Party says that inside the EU the UK is powerless to stop immigration from other EU countries.

The Commission said the figure of three million was an assumption rather than a prediction and included those who had already arrived in 2015.

Map showing routes being used by migrants trying to reach Austria and Germany - 19 October 2015

UN refugee officials say more than 750,000 migrants have arrived in the EU by sea this year, up from 282,000 in total in 2014.

The vast majority have arrived in Greece (608,000), which has become the most common destination. Some 140,000 have arrived in Italy in 2015.

Most of the migrants head for Germany, hoping to get asylum there. German officials say their country is likely to host at least 800,000 new migrants this year, and the total could reach 1.5 million.

Sweden has the highest share of refugees per head of population in the EU. The extra cost in public spending is likely to be nearly 0.5% of GDP this year, the Commission says, adding that “the corresponding positive effects on growth would be somewhat smaller”.

Presidential Panel on Arms’ Purchase May Seek Deadline Extension

$

The committee set up by President Muhammadu Buhari to investigate the procurement of hardware and ammunition for the military from 2007 to date, may seek an extension for its deadline to enable it to do a proper job, Daily Sun has learnt.

The committee, which meets at the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), sits at 9 am daily and closes at 7 pm. The committee has so far achieved tremendous results but may have to seek for an extension up to January, 2016, to complete its report and submit same to the President.

Military sources said the Air Vice Marshall Jon Ode-led Committee was able to unravel some dubious deals perpetrated by some past service chiefs, former defence ministers and ministers of state and past NSAs among other top military officers and civilians in the illegal purchase of arms running into billions of naira.

A top security officer, who would not want to be mentioned, confided that most of those that needed to be questioned had been grilled and made useful information and revelations. The source, however, pointed out that most of them were also found to have soiled their hands. It was discovered that the bulk of arms and ammunition purchased by the previous administration for the counter-insurgency war in the North-East was hugely carried out outside the military. It said while some past service chiefs also engaged in the direct purchase of weapons, majority of the procurement was carried out by another agency for reasons best known to them. It was discovered that the committee, which has November 30 as deadline to submit its report to the President, may not be able to meet the deadline because of the sensitive nature of their assignment which involves a lot of investigation. The source, however, pointed out that so far, the committee has gathered enough evidence and some exhibits to nail some perpetrators, but still needed more time to get more.

Not more than 19 former defence and services chiefs are expected to appear before the panel which commenced sitting on August, 31, 2015. The committee was, among others, set up to identify irregularities and make recommendations for streamlining the procurement process in the Armed Forces.

Presidential Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, had while announcing the setting up of the committee, said it will investigate allegations of non-adherence to correct equipment procurement procedures and the exclusion of relevant logistics branches from arms procurement under past administrations, which very often, resulted in the acquisition of sub-standard and unserviceable equipment. Adesina, in a statement, said: “It comes against the background of the myriad of challenges that the Nigerian Armed Forces have faced in the course of the on-going counter-insurgency operations in the North-East, including the apparent deficit in military platforms with its attendant negative effects on troops’ morale”.

Amosun fixes Lagos-Ibadan expressway

Speaking during an inspection tour of the work being carried out by Ogun State Ministry of Works at about 1:00 a.m. yesterday, Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, said: “In the real sense of it and for me there are no federal people, the people plying this road and other affected federal roads within our axis are our people. We are all Nigerians and we are already collaborating with the Federal Government to contribute our quota to ensure that this road is fixed.”

Amosun’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Adejuwon Soyinka said in a statement that the governor, who was accompanied on the inspection by his wife, Olufunsho, his deputy, Mrs. Yetunde Onanuga and members of the Ogun State executive council, had assured that the really bad portions of the expressway currently causing major gridlock around the Arepo area would be fixed within three days. He said this was even more necessary in order to ease traffic before this weekend when major churches on the expressway are billed to hold programmes which often attract millions of worshippers.

While explaining that the situation of the Lagos- Ibadan Expressway has got the attention of President Muhammadu Buhari, who he said would ensure that work commences on the road after the rainy season, Amosun added that the Ogun State government only decided to carry out palliative measures to ease the suffering of people travelling on the road.

The Ogun State governor said his administration had always carried out such works on the Lagos- Ibadan Expressway, Old Abeokuta Expressway, Sagamu-Ogijo road and other federal roads within Ogun State territory.

Buhari Reveals Why All Ministers Won’t be Getting a Portfolio

$

0

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari doesn’t seem to be interested in appointing 36 ministers of the federation.

The president took his time to form his cabinet and recently said all of his ministers won’t be getting a portfolio.  “The Constitution said there must be one member of the cabinet from all the states but the Constitution did not say I must have 36 ministries.” he told newsmen yesterday, 4th November, 2015, after receiving a list of confirmed ministers from Senate President Bukola Saraki.

On having ministers without portfolio, he said: “Well I think before we had ministers of state in the past, I don’t think there is anything new, there was minister for special duties which really doesn’t have a portfolio. “I think the key issue is being in the cabinet; is being a part of government and those that would have the responsibilities of ministering are those that at the end of the day would do that.
