January 2014 is on its way off, but the lasting memories it came with wouldn’t go in such a hurry. Such memories include the beautiful music videos we saw this month from our own home based artistes. While some of them decided to drop the videos to their songs which had enjoyed airplay previously, others decided to drop both song and video all on us. The list contains the very best of videos brought to you this month by our esteemed team! Now, you be the judge. Do you think these videos made the cut?
10. Bolaji on the Microphone – Boj
Bolaji of DRB Lasgidi has our no 10 spot for his video to his self-titled song ‘Bolaji on the Microphone’. Starboy for DRB released the video for his mixtape single which dropped last year. I think he’s very much of a dashiki and fedora person and the video is a cool and simple one and good lyric.
9. Sex and Scotch – Jesse Jag
At number 9, it is the multi talented musician, Jesse Abaga with his video to ‘Sex and Scotch’ from the 2013 album, ‘Jesse Jags Nation Volume 1: Thy Kingdom Come’. The video concept is hella sexy to start with and the delivery, wonderful.
8. Oshe – Praise feat Awilo Longomba
This is the fourth music video from the MTN Project Fame runner up who has done very well for himself. In this video which occupies our no 8 spot, he went off the hook and Praise or nah? The choice is yours. explored. The tune sounds great, the video fresh and it features popular Makossa singer, Awilo. So, we hope to see more of outside the box music from him right?
7. Emmah – Kcee feat D’banj
You can’t deny that Kcee is a household name now. This time, he dropped his video which is eye-catching and engaging with D’banj. Shot somewhere in South Africa by the Godfather, the video sees the finest of everything, believe me and you have to give it to them for the beautiful costuming, great.
6. Gentleman – D’Prince, Davido, Don Jazzy
Shot by super producer, Don Jazzy, Gentleman is that kind of song to leave that charming wedding sensation in your ears. With an accompanying beautiful video to go with it, this would definitely rock for a long time. The costume was great too.
5. Silifa – Skuki
The brothers are back this year and are not even joking this year. It’s ‘Silifa’ at number 6, shot in South Africa and directed by Clarence Peters. This video is very much sexy, the hot girls in the video. Great video for a comeback if you ask
4. Ragga Ragga – Seyi Shay
Great choreography, Seyi Shay doesn’t even play with her dance steps. Love the make-up in the video and there’s something relaxing about it also. The video was shot in a club with Seyi and her team of talented dancers entertaining.
3. Keeper of the Sun – Temidollface feat IbkSpaceshipboi
You thought you had seen the best of Temi after ‘Pata Pata’? Well, you lied. She’s here and she’s back with this tribute to the late Nelson Mandela. The song which was released with an accompanying lyric video and making of documentary portrays everything the late Madiba stood for. The song is a worthy way to respect the great hero.
2. Surulere – Dr Sid, Don Jazzy
Surulere which means ‘Patience’ is one of the songs from Dr Sid’s ‘Siduction’ and has been enjoying massive airplay. The song which has Phyno and Wizkid on the remix has a fresh video which features Funke Akindele, Helen Paul and Blossom Chukwujekwu. It tells the story of a young couple who find it difficult to have a baby and despite pressure, they stay together and finally conceive.
1. Ikwokrikwo – Flavour
Ikwokrikwo, shot on a natural beautiful location shows off Flavour, his body and his dance steps together with hot BBA winner, Dillish Matthews. Flavour as usual gets the girls going all yes, yes and that’s exactly as it is in this video. It ended with a hot kiss on the lips, go see that one for yourself.
