1. King Sunny Ade

Classed as one of the most influential musicians of his time, the Juju music Icon, King Adé aged 69 was born to a Nigerian royal family in Ondo, earning him the royal title of an ‘Omoba’ of the Yoruba people.

Active in music for 56 years, means he started his career at of 13… All hail the Omoba. The musician has 2 Grammy nominations making him the first African to be nominated twice for a Grammy.

2. Omawumi

Singer, Omawumi was born of a father with an itshekiri chiefdom title on the 13th of April 1982. The songstress has been active in music for 9 years and we’re still counting.

She’s also ventured into acting with a minor role in the 2009 edition of the V-Monolugues, a play that reflects the negative issues affecting women in Nigeria, Inale, a Hollywood/Nollywood Bongos-Ikwe production, starring Hakeem Kae Kazeem, Dede Mabiaku, and Ini Edo She also starred in the musical play Olurombi.

She’s starred in Funke Akindele’s Return of Jenifa and Yvonne Nelson’s House of Gold (2013) alongside Majid Michel and Ice Prince.

3. Rita Dominic

Actress, Rita Dominic was born on the July 12, 1975 (age 40). A member of the Royal Waturuocha family of Aboh Mbaise local government area in Imo State and the youngest of 4 siblings.

With 18 years of experience in acting she’s starred in over 100 Nigerian movies. She’s also won series of awards the most recent in 2014 (AMVCA) for best actress in a leading role.

4. Toolz

At 33 and recently married, the MVP lady has shown that you can have anything you want even royalty. Tolu Oniru, popularly known as Toolz, has bagged 6 awards excluding a nomination for Favorite OAP for the ‘Nikelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards between 2010-2014.

A Nigerian radio personality, talk show host, and presenter, she’s best known for hosting The Midday Show on The Beat 99.9 FM. Her royalty roots comes from the famous Oniru Royal family of Lagos State.

5. Gbemi Olateru

Born on the 18th of July 1984 into the Olagbegi royal family of Owo a city situated in the eastern Yoruba State of Ondo, Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi is a Nigerian broadcaster and presenter, especially known for presenting programmes on radio station Cool FM and on The Beat 99.9 FM.

Her hard work has earned her 5 awards in the industry. She’s also related to Sir Olateru Olagbegi II, Olowo of Owo (born August 1910 – 1998) the then King (Olowo) of Owo.

6. Tillaman

It’s not every day you see the son of HRH Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, the Alaafin of Oyo serenade an audience but this is no ordinary prince. Prince Adetona Adeyemi, popularly known as the singer, Tillaman is a truly a 1st class Prince.

Even though he has every reason not to work, the 32 years old is into music and bagged himself an award in 2013 for “Best Come Artist for 2012” at the PRODIGIE Awards.
