He calls himself “Ugandan born citizen of the world”. Oscar is a self-taught not-so-regular photographer and artist living and working in Kampala, Uganda. Looking through his portfolio and Instagram page , you immediately begin to feel a certain rise in your love of Africa.
His work is greatly influenced by his environment: “the youth and hiphop culture, people, social motivational causes and diverse forms of expression”.
my heart belongs to the community and social work, I chose to use photography as a tool to spread the message and share joy but also to develop a profession, artistic-expression and self-discovery. I evolved the motto “give a smile to the world” which I wish to portray and share through my work.
Currently, he’s working on a life long project documenting the Uganda “youth and hiphop culture” with major focus on the breakdance.
Oscar has been nominated for two (2) awards from his home country the most of which is the Uganda Press Photo Award 2014, Daily Life. He has been published in ten (10) magazines including the Washington Post. He has been featured in twelve (12) exhibitions between 2012 and 2015 including group exhibitions and duo exhibitions.
Oscar keeps making the list of African photographers to look out for.
