Throwback Thursday!!!!!
Lets dance back in time and sing along to that hit track from Mad Melon and Mountain black; the Duo called the “Danfo Drivers“….
Even for some of us that thought this duo were kind of “Razz” in those days, we would still not forget  the hype that came with the song and the dance style “suo”
We danced “suo” so much, we even danced it in church. Suo came when people got tired of dancing galala….it was less aggressive and made you look more sane.
The Duo of Mountain black and Mad Melon ( real names Jimoh Olotu and Omeofa Oghene) as youngsters grew up in the slums of Ajegunle, Lagos. Nigeria. They were commercial transport workers and they would sing to entertain their passengers and this was how cornerstone music discovered them.
The song Danfo Driver was released in 2003 under cornerstone music; and became a street anthem. The song was also chosen as a sound track for the hollywood movie “Phat Girls” along side Tuface’s African queen.
They also released another album in 2005 that had the chat buster “Kpolongo” which led to their first european tour in 2006.
Y’all bend your waist, roll them hands and tear the legs apart as we go back to 2003.
Watch and enjoy
