Men, whoever told you that you do not need as much maintenance as women do just gave you the simplest lie ever and you believed it hook, line and sinker. Grammar put aside, that is a lie from the pit of hell. You guys definitely need maintenance of not more than women sef. This is because your layers of skin are thicker, pores are larger and there are more oil glands producing more lubrication for a longer period of time. So just as much as women need to have a skin care regimen, so should you guys. Here’s a simple one for starters.
1) Face Wash: It is ridiculously important to wash your face in the mornings and evenings. This helps with sweat and oil and all the stuff that should not be allowed to dwell or reside on your skin. Washing with a good soap is good but that is not all. A face cleanser that strikes a delicate balance between tough and tender. Look for a fragrance-free gel face wash suitable for all skin types that is strong enough to cut through those overactive male sebaceous glands yet gentle enough to be used every day.
2) Face Scrub/Exfoliation: Now this is a very needed one as every skin that is not as young as a baby’s is not devoid of dry cells and old skin. This is why exfoliation or face scrubbing is key. A simple granular face scrub e.g apricot-based will do this magic and even ease shaving so whatever is stored in your pores as a result of a hard day’s work will give way for new and fresh skin cells to give you the needed freshness for a good day.
3) Moisturize: The ageing process knows no man. Added to that is the constant shaving that you have to do to keep the boyish clean cut or manly beards to look good. Moisturizing replenishes the skin’s moisture content and prevents razor burn. A moisturizer with SPF will also provide a solid shield against the sun. Harsh UVB rays cause the skin to burn, but it’s the UVA rays that lead to long-term damage like deep lines and skin cancer. A moisturizer with multispectrum defense takes care of it all. Do not ignore this.
4) Face Toner: Men, ladies like you to look fresh and not excessively sweaty and oily all the time. Regular use of a toner can help dissolve skin impurities and cut through dirt. Male skin tends to produce excess sebum — the oily, waxy matter produced by the sebaceous glands — primarily on the face and scalp. Toner washes away the oil, prevents blackheads, tightens pores, and reduces shine. One with salicylic acid will also help treat acne breakouts.
5) Body wash: Call it too ladylike or whatever you want but know that feeling fresh is just as good for you as it is good for your woman. A shower gel is both more effective and sanitary than a bar of soap.
So men, all of this is not rocket science. These products that serve these purpose are affordable and beneficial. Trust me, you don’t want to look ten years older than your real age. Try this regimen and tell others.
